Join Us This Saturday for a Free Paleo Experience Bootcamp

paleo 2

We hope you’ll join us this Sat. @10:30 in the main Group Exercise studio at Highline Club for the December edition of Paleo Experience Bootcamp’s (PEBs) complimentary Saturday class! This only comes around once a month and is always fun and informative. The class is open to anyone, member or non-member of Highline Club. We usually have a wonderful mix of current and former PEBs, as well as some new faces who are checking out the class for the first time. We spend a few minutes explaining what makes this class unique and why so many people have been a part of it for the past 3+ years. We then warm up and workout as we would in a regular weekly class (held M/W/F @6 am and T/Th/F @5:30 pm).

Space is limited so be sure to RSVP to autum@highlineclub.com, to guarantee your space, today!

Disclaimer: this program is not our basis for training. Any nutritional advice and/or menu design is done through licensed nutrition software that keep all macronutrients within the recommended daily allowances by the AHA and CDC.

Start Your Day Right with New Early Morning Group Ride

GR-APR14-posterimage

Last week, we announced effective November 1st we would no longer be offering our M/W/F 6:00am Group Ride class (7:00am ride times are still in effect!) but if you still want to get a ride in before work, we’ve got your covered!

Starting November 11th, we will be offering Group Ride classes on Tues and Thurs at a new time of 5:45 am! The new 5:45 am time is designed to get you into class and working up a sweat before your work day begins.

Rena will be teaching the Tuesday morning class and Jenifer has the Thursday. They’ll be waiting for you, bright and early! (Well, not so bright this time of year- but that’s all the more reason for a jolt of early morning endorphins!)

Highline Club Member Carol Roll Summits Volcanoes in Mexico

carolroll4

Highline Club member Carol Roll has spent the last 10 days outside Mexico City climbing two of North America’s tallest mountains – Iztaccihuatl (17,343 ft) and El Pico de Orizaba (18,490 ft). Her team of 10 climbers was successful in summiting both peaks on October 27th and November 1st.

CarolRoll

The team first attempted Izta, “The Sleeping Lady”. While a straight forward route to the summit, the altitude adjustment was challenging for all the climbers. While at the summit they were greeted with views of a small eruption from the nearby Popo volcano.

On Orizaba the team climbed via the Jamapa glacier / Espinosa route. They faced steep and icy slopes but a good weather window allowed them to reach the volcanoes’ summit. Orizaba is the tallest volcano in North America and the 3rd tallest mountain in North America.

Carol trained for the climbs by attending Group Power, Group Ride and spending countless hours on the stair climber and tread mill at HAC. She also enjoyed local training hikes to nearby Granite Mountain, Camp Muir and the Tiger Mountain Cable Line Trail to get in top shape.

This is Carol’s 7th time climbing mountains for Fred Hutchinson’s Climb to Fight Breast Cancer. She raised over $9,000 this year to support breast cancer research at the Hutch as part of her climb.

Get Tanked With Us September 27th!

get tanked

We’re going to be getting tanked September 27th 2014 in the parking lot from 7:00am-1:00pm.

What is getting tanked at Highline Club? Hydrostatic body composition testing, of course!

Hydrostatic body composition testing measures your body fat by submerging you in a tank of clean, warm, filtered water for about 7 seconds. It only takes about 10 minutes and will give you the most accurate body fat reading possible. Use it as a starting point, a progress check in, or to see if you’ve hit your fat loss goal!

We will also be offering Bone Mineral Density testing, which is a quick, non-invasive test to expose your risk of fracture from thinning bones. See if your strength training is doing the trick and building your bones up stronger than ever.

Just bring a swim suit and towel, or rent a towel from the front desk. The cost is $49 per test, or $88 for both and includes a 4 page report of your results.

Sign up today at the front desk! Spots are going fast!

Highline Club to Host B-Town Running Group Every Saturday in September

global_374521802
Did you know Burien has its own running group? The B-Town Running Group meets every Saturday morning at 9:00am at the Burien Library.
To help Team Highline Club, and anyone else running, train for the Burien Brat Trot October 5th, we are hosting all of the B-Town Running Group’s runs in September!

B-Town Running Group is a great way to improve your stride, get in shape, meet your neighbors and make some new friends! Experience the benefits of being part of a supportive group of runners by hitting the streets of Burien for a self-paced run each Saturday from 9-10 am.

EVERYONE IS INVITED AND ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME! We can’t stress that enough! Walk/running is perfectly acceptable. We aren’t elite runners, we are just here to support each other and have a great time!

We meet at the sculpture in the park at the Burien Library and generally do a 2-3 mile loop. You can RSVP for the runs at MeetUp.com– or just meet us at 9:00am ready to go!

Highline Club will be hosting the following runs:

Saturday, September 6th at 9:00am

Saturday, September 13th at 9:00am (followed by a running lecture at the Library from 10:30am-11:30am)

Saturday, September 20th at 9:00am

Saturday, September 27th at 9:00am
